Almonds, Cashews, Pistachios
All nuts are about the same amount of calories per ounce, and on average, are all healthy additions to any diet. Judy Caplan, RD, a spokeswoman for the Food and Nutrition Institute, said, "The combination of omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and fiber will help you feel better and more satisfied with your diet."
The lowest calories at 160 per ounce are almonds (23 pills; 6 grams protein, 14 grams); cashews (nuts 16 to 18; protein 5 grams, fat 13 grams); and pistachios (49 nuts; 6 grams protein, 13 pounds). Avoid packaging or baking oil; instead, eat them hot or dry, Caplan says. (It can be cooked soluble drugs in hydrogenated or omega-6 fatty acids, she says, or at temperatures that can ruin their diet.)
