Speaking of the real Dahongpao, you have to say the variety tea “Chidan”. Qidan is the Dahongpao of Wuyishan in the past. The history of planting is very long. In the past, Dahongpao, which the elderly said, refers to Qidan. At present, there are 6 mother trees on the stone wall of the Tianxinyan Jiulong in Wuyi Mountain, namely the mother tree Dahongpao. From the first one of the upper layer next to the stone inscription, numbered sequentially, the upper 4 (historically called) 1, 2, 3, 4, the middle layer is 5, and the bottom layer is 6.

These six tea trees are of the same type, but they are also derived from the long-term natural hybridization of the Wuyishan vegetable tea group, so there are individual differences. It is roughly divided into 3 different strains: 1, 5, 2, 6, 3, 4.

Purebred Dahongpao

The purebred Dahongpao is also called “asexual reproduction Dahongpao”.

Indicating that a certain line in the Dahongpao of the mother tree is cultivated by separate cutting and breeding (asexual reproduction), planted in the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, cultivated in large areas, due to its origin, production process, and The quality characteristics are basically the same as the mother tree Dahongpao, so it is defined as Dahongpao.

This Dahongpao can not be called the second generation, or the third generation Dahongpao, because there is no algebra in asexual reproduction. Nowadays, the “pure species” Dahongpao we have seen on the market can be divided into two categories, namely, Dahongpao breeding varieties Qidan and Beidou.

The older generation of tea people called Qidan the old name of Dahongpao, and Beidou is the breed of Dahongpao asexually breeding. Regarding Qidan and Beidou, which is the real Dahongpao, there are still many different opinions. However, in recent years, Qidan was recognized as a purebred Dahongpao by the tea science expert group.

The arrangement of Dahongpao is not just a simple combination of several kinds of tea. The good Dahongpao is able to bring together the advantages of various teas to make the aroma. The taste is even higher. The basic method of blending is to use narcissus and cinnamon to ensure the “thickness” of the tea soup, and then use several varieties of tea (105, 204, white cockscomb, iron arhat, Beidou, etc.) to enhance the fragrance.

In short, it is the “water” of narcissus and cinnamon, and the scent of tea. The matching of Dahongpao is not only in terms of variety, but also in the proportion of varieties. Many large tea factories regard the proportion of blending as confidential, which shows the difficulty.
